John deere 1010 dozer problems3/2/2024 I have owned 12, 550 s of every series A,B,G,H,and J since that and if I owned that 550 unit I would fix it to like new they are my favorite by far. Those old 550 John Deeres are a great dozer I had one with 16000 hours on it and should have never sold it. Find some one that is good at diesel repairs and get them to help. These are not rocket science nor should they be junked We will help you through it even. It is in your powershift units and rebuild all Next when you are in that deep look into the final drive that is the problem I would say broken brake linkage ?You can do this job your self we know you can !. remove the seat, fuel tank and battery box and work down. Now transmission repairs start at the top and work down. This is totally different than the Agricultural dealers who will look up parts for your 40c or M any day. If they cant find parts on the computer they cant get them and don't care to. You have just entered a establishment that consider anything older than the G series dozers SCRAP. I hate to junk it because the motor runs strong and the rest of the machine is in good shape.įirst I have said this before DO NOT TAKE THESE OLD DEERE'S TO A DEALER AND ASK THEM TO FIX IT. I am ready to take the tracks of and break her down but cant find the pin, or at least I'm not sure because there are about four that look like what the book describes as the one to pound out.Ĭan I adapt a transmition from another year to work in this?Ĭan I adapt the newer hydro static to fit and work? attempted to adjust the left steering, by the manual, it changes nothing ![]() replaced the hydrolic pump (this changed nothing)ģ. changed the tranny fluid and filter(it had some water in it and I don't know where it came from?)Ģ. ![]() after a loud pop on the left stearing it no longer works.ġ. there is no evidence of oil in the radiator.Ħ. the transmition overheats but the motor is ok.ĥ. transmition had some water in it because the oil was whiteish grey.Ĥ. bought it used, the motor is new rebuilt a year ago.Ģ. now how do I fix this or is it really a waste of time?ġ. Without even looking at it the dealer told me it was not worth fixing and if he fixed it he would not guarentee it. When it is cold it pulls fair but once it warms up it doesnt pull strong even thought the motor is strong. I have a older John Deere 550 dozer that the transmission has stopped working correctly and the left steering just went out.
